Senate Finance Committee healthcare proposals:Tax! Tax! Tax!

"Government's view...could be summed up in a few short phrases:If it moves, tax it.If it keeps moving, regulate it.And if it stops moving, subsidize it." Ronald Reagan

And it seems they're at it again. I'm talking about a report issued by the senate finance committee earlier this year dealing with proposed changes to America's health care system.
The name of the report is Financing Comprehensive Healthcare Reform:Proposed Health System Savings And Revenue Options. This is the senate finance committees blue print for proposals to change our present system.

This is a fairly extensive document-although no match for the House bill- and runs to 41 pages, and is loaded, and I mean Loaded with proposed new taxes. And here are just a few of the proposals that we may see included in the S.F.C. draft bill.

" A number of options could be considered that would limit the value of employer-provided health coverage that is exclude able from gross income. The limit could be based on the value of the plan or the income of the insured, or the limit could be a combination of both. Alternatively, the limit could be tied to a percentage of the value of the employer-provided health coverage."

Here's a big one. this is found in SECTION II: Options to Modify the Exclusion for Employer-
Provided Health Coverage.
There it is the liberals in the senate want to tax your health benefits and make them a part of your gross income.

All this will do is cause some workers to drop their employer provided health care, and since they don't have a public option, force these people to go without insurance.

This is just the tip of the Iceberg and oh what an iceberg it is. Some other proposals would alter or eliminate H.S.A.'s and Flex Spending accounts.

These folks want to take one of the better reform of recent years-a reform that actually encourages people to take more responsibility for their health care-and destroy it-or at the very least-tax it to death. It gets even better in SECTION IV: Lifestyle Related Revenue Raisers we find proposals for new taxes on soft drinks, distilled alchohol, wine and beer. They're going to drive you to drink with all their new taxes and tax the hell out of you again if you do.

If that wasn't bad enough they also propose eliminating credits for domestic oil and gas exploration, as well as ,domestic refining. They have also set their sights on alternative fuels. What ever happened to energy Independence?

The final section deals with proposed revenue enhancements put forth by the Obama administration. Once again oodles and oodles of new taxes.

Dear reader if you think things are bad now it looks we may be going to worse very soon. I have only managed to scratch the surface of this turkey, and if even half of this comes out in the final draft, then everyone who cares about the health, well being, fitness not only of individuals, but also this nation and it's economy, needs to send a loud no thank you to congress.

Once again more change we can darn sure live without

A Return To "Common Sense"

It seems to me that what America needs today -and needs badly- is a return to good old "Common Sense". during the revolutionary period pamphleteers and broadsiders were the equivalent of today's blogger and perhaps one of the most influential of those pamphleteers was Thomas Pain and his "Common Sense".

In the first chapter of Common sense Paine has this to day about government..."Society in every state is a blessing, but Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one.

Our government has been a necessary evil but in its present state -especially in light of the recent tax proposals out of Washington- this government is quickly becoming an intolerable evil.

The left and left wing politicians such as Nancy Pelosi seem unable to comprehend the fact that a growing number of Americans are getting mad as hell and aren't willing to take it any more. Witness the Tea-Party movement.

Here's what Queen Nancy had to say about this grassroots movement..."This tea party initiative is funded by the high end — we call call it astroturf, it’s not really a grassroots movement. It’s astroturf by some of the wealthiest people in America to keep the focus on tax cuts for the rich instead of for the great middle class."

She's claiming that this congress is not going to tax the middle class and yet this congress has raised taxes on cigarettes, is considering an additional tax on alcohol, health benefits, and lets not forget cap and tax. These taxes will have a significant impact on the middle class especially cap and tax, which even Obama admits- will cause energy prices to sky rocket.

Pain goes on to say... "I draw my idea of the form of government from a principle in nature which no art can overturn, viz. that the more simple any thing is, the less liable it is to be disordered, and the easier repaired when disordered..."

Our government started out in a relatively simple form -and stayed that way for over one hundred and fifty years- until the New Deal when there was an explosion of new government programs and bureaucracies.

We had another huge explosion of this madness in the sixties and I'm afraid we're having another explosion of this socialist madness today. Paine as well as all the founding fathers would be mortified to see what has become of their dream of limited government.

Today's government has become a bloated behemoth, and the politicians that populate the halls of congress and the Anointed one in the White house, seem to think their are no limits to how much power they can seize to themselves, and no limit on how much they can oppress the American people.

Yes it seems to me our country has a great need to return to the ideals of our founders and the Common Sense of writers such as Thomas Pain. This week I am devoting my posts to more expositions from this awesome work Common Sense.

The Midwest Fair Tax Rally Columbia Missouri

"The Moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God and that there is not a force of law...to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence. Property must be secure or liberty can not exist."

John Adams.

Today, this writer, went to the Midwest Tax Rally in Columbia Missouri. It was a great time. I met people from all over. People from Oklahoma, Arizona, Georgia. There were plenty of Missourians there to. Some highlights from the rally were listening to Joe the Plumber and Neil Boortz. But I have to give a special shout out to Kevin Jackson author of the blog theblacksphere.blogspot.com

This was, as this writer has said, a "Fair Tax Rally." What is the "Fair Tax"? "The Fair tax is a nonpartisan proposal that replaces all federal income taxes with a progressive tax on the consumption of new goods and services." As described in the pamphlet "The Missouri Fair Tax Welcomes You."

There motto being Show Me: Simplicity, Transparency, and Fairness."

I cannot put into words how excited I am at this growing "Revolution." Americans who still believe in freedom, democracy, and the Constitution, must get acquainted with this movement.

Their aims are to stop taxation of saving and investment.

To give every worker a "full paycheck." In other words you would no longer have gross and net pay, but rather, just income. All workers could take home EVERYTHING THEY MAKE, excuse me for shouting ,but this is something, to shout about.

It aims to give retirees, and those with fixed incomes, more disposable income.

It stops the export of American jobs overseas. Because under the Fair Tax corporations won't be taxed into oblivion, and won't need, to go overseas just to make a profit!

Bottom line here is the Fair Tax: eliminates "All Federal Income Taxes, All Payroll Taxes, All Death and Gift Taxes, as well as the I.R.S.!!! It makes our tax system voluntary, and eliminates a score of hidden taxes, and compliance costs, that are currently contained in our tax code.

I urge anyone and everyone who reads this blog to go to mofairtax.org, or, fairtax.org and get informed about the Fair Tax. You'll be glad you did.

The First Fair Tax Rally West of The Mississipi, to Hit Columbia Missouri, June 13, 2009

"COLUMBIA — The idea of adopting a statewide consumption tax in lieu of traditional corporate and individual income taxes is not novel. Fifteen years ago, three Houston businessmen invested $20 million to study alternatives to income tax nationwide. The idea has since gained a cult following...."
Columbia Missourian 5-19-09
Tired of having the government raid your paycheck, each and every week, and taking nearly half of what you earn? then the Fair Tax is for you! The Fair Tax is, simply put, a consumption tax. It wipes out all income taxes, corporate taxes, taxes on savings, as well as ,taxes on capitol gains, and replaces it with one simple form of taxation, one that is fair, across the board, and progressive as well. The more you spend, the more you pay. But perhaps the greatest benefit of all ,is that, it gets the heavy hand of government out of your life, and returns control of your money back to you. In other words the greatest benefit, is ,increased freedom for every one.

Lets face it, any fool could see, that the current system is broken. No one ,probably not even the I.R.S., knows what the untold volumes of the tax code contains. It is a -more than sixty year old- hodgepodge of rules and regulations. It is an intrusion by the government in to the lives, and business, of Americans, that would shock The Founding Fathers. Their philosophy was that less government was better government, and when they wrote the Constitution, they didn't put an income tax in it. If they had thought that a direct tax on personal, and business income, was a good idea they would have done so.

It is past time to get the Taxman off the backs of working men and women. Why should they have to choose between buying groceries and paying the utilities, or buying insurance. With the fair tax in place there would be plenty of money to do more and then some. I myself am fortunate to have good insurance where I work, plus I have an F.S.A. The Fair Tax would go a long way in helping to solve the Health Care Crisis.

It's past time to get the tax man off corporations. The Fair Tax would make American Companies extremely competitive in the world market, and I believe, lead companies from all over the world to come here and build factories, etc. With the extra money corporations would have, they would be better able to, raise wages and increase capacity, which means more jobs, and, provide insurance to their employees.

People would be able to save money without the government taxing their savings. Investors would be able to keep ALL their capital gains, which means, more investment in America. It doesn't take a Fulbright scholar- and lord knows I'm not one- to see that this is a win win for every citizen, as well as ,our Nation.

But the thing I like the best is it gets the government gun out of our faces by eliminating the I.R.S. For much to long our government has used the power of the state, and the threat of criminal punishment, to extort money from it's own Citizens.

Take a moment today and visit

today. God Bless America And may god Bless this movement with success
