A man who deserved the Nobel Prize, Ronald Wilson Reagan

The Nobel Peace Prize for some reason -I've never figured out- is a highly coveted prize in the circle of the world's movers and shakers. Today this prize was awarded to our President Barack Obama. I congratulate him and hope that he can live up to the expectations of those who have awarded him this prize. It is my earnest prayer that Mr. Obama can indeed achieve peace and security for this country.

That being said it is worth the time to take a look at the recent history of this award. There have been many recipients of this award but there are a few from recent times that deserve a second look.

It's notable to find that there has not been a single Republican awarded this prize since 1973. That year's recipient was Henry Kissinger. And yet since this time such luminaries as Jimmy Carter, Yasser Arafat, and Al Gore have received the prize. Now the ONE Barack Obama has received tribute from the Nobel Committee.

This begs the question what did Al Gore, Jimmy Carter and Yasser Arafat, not to mention Barack, do to deserve it. Turns out the answer is not much. Carter made a fool of himself against Iran. Arafat was a murdering terrorist and Al Gore contributed to global warming just by opening his mouth and letting out so much hot air!

The real topper though is that even Mikhail Gorbachev received the Nobel Peace Prize!!. Why for finally listening to Ronald Wilson Reagan and tearing down the Berlin wall?

If anyone in the last forty years deserved this award it is Ronald Reagan. As a result of his presidency confidence was restored in America. Because of his policy of peace through strength war was averted, and, most notable of all Reagan, won the cold war for the free world.

If the Nobel committee had any sense Ronald Wilson Reagan would have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize long ago!!!
