Yesterday I used this same flag on my post about the Declaration of Independence. There is a reason I did was I started this blog as a reaction to an article published in the Columbia Daily Tribune, Columbia Missouri, on March 22 of this year.
'The Article titled "Militia Report Evokes Flurry of Criticism" stated "A confidential analysis on “The Modern Militia Movement” compiled by the state “fusion center” has drawn livid responses from people and groups listed in the document. State officials said."
The article goes on to list as candidates for joining domestic terror groups as...
"The eight-page MIAC report listed warning signs indicating someone might be a domestic terrorist or a member of a militia. The signs include: subversive literature, certain political bumper stickers and the Gadsden flag of the Revolutionary War with its “Don’t tread on me” motto."
That really set me off, especially the Gadsden Flag part. This is a cherished symbol of this nations struggle for freedom and liberty not a terrorist symbol. In fact since the real terrorists attacked on Sept. 11 the navy has flown the Jack on all its fighting ships.
So being the rebellious sort that I am I immediately bought a Navy Jack bumper sticker and decided to no longer just get mad at the t.v. or paper. I would start a blog and do what the early revolutionaries did and express my discontent with the constant erosion of our freedoms that is currently going on.
At this time I am the most worked up over this horrible, and I cannot say it strongly enough ,horrible "Cap and Trade" legislation, as well as OBamacare. These two measures by them selves will effectively end freedom in this country. Yeah we'll be told we're free, but will we really be free?
Cap and trade is just a euphemism for tax, regulate, and control the hell out of everything. Obama care will put the government in charge of my health care and health care decisions. Is this what the founders envisioned? I think not.
Well I have now been radicalized and I'm going to keep denouncing this nonsense from Washington as well as state and local sources for as long as I can.
2010 is going to be a year of great consequence. This may be our last chance to use the power of the ballot to throw these lunkheads out, right or left, and install true conservatives into power. These guys and gals have to be stopped!
As a closing thought take a look at Brutus Dec 27 from the Anti- Federalist Papers...
"This power, exercised without limitation, will introduce itself into every
corner of the city, and country -- It will wait upon the ladies at their
toilett, and will not leave them in any of their domestic concerns; it will
accompany them to the ball, the play, and the assembly; it will go with them
when they visit, and will, on all occasions, sit beside them in their
carriages, nor will it desert them even at church; it will enter the house
of every gentleman, watch over his cellar, wait upon his cook in the
kitchen, follow the servants into the parlour, preside over the table, and
note down all he eats or drinks; it will attend him to his bed-chamber, and
watch him while he sleeps; it will take cognizance of the professional man
in his office, or his study; it will watch the merchant in the
counting-house, or in his store; it will follow the mechanic to his shop,
and in his work, and will haunt him in his family, and in his bed; it will
be a constant companion of the industrious farmer in all his labour, it will
be with him in the house, and in the field, observe the toil of his hands,
and the sweat of his brow; it will penetrate into the most obscure cottage;
and finally, it will light upon the head of every person in the United
States. To all these different classes of people, and in all these
circumstances, in which it will attend them, the language in which it will
address them, will be GIVE! GIVE!"
