Barack Obama-Science-and Global Warming

On June 26 cbsnews.com reported that the author of a 98 page EPA report critical of global warming apparently had his report squashed by the Obama administration. According to CBS news...

"Less than two weeks before the agency formally submitted its pro-regulation recommendation to the White House, an EPA center director quashed a 98-page report that warned against making hasty "decisions based on a scientific hypothesis that does not appear to explain most of the available data."

The author of the report one Alan Carlin- a long time EPA researcher -said in the CBS interview that he felt as though his boss ,Al McGartland, was in danger of losing his job if he didn't get Carlin working on "something else." Carlin also stated that he felt as though the source of this attempt to deep six his report was "obviously coming from higher levels." In other words the White House.

This is truly intriguing, especially in the light of the Presidents statement to the National Academy of Science on April 27 of this year that science taking a backseat to ideology are over. It brings to mind remembrances of the accusations against the Bush administration of suppressing studies that were favorable to the theory of global warming.

In the preface to his report to the EPA Carlin writes... " We have become increasingly more concerned that EPA and many other agencies and countries have paid to little attention to the science of global warming. EPA and others have tended to accept the findings of outside groups, particularly the IPCC and the CCSP, as being correct without a careful critical examination of their conclusions and documentation. If they should be found to be inncorrect at a later date... it appears likely ... that EPA may be blamed for this error."

This is truly interesting that these remarks-as well as- the rest of this report may have been censored especially considering that in the afore mentioned address to the The National Academy of Sciences Mr. Obama went on to state... "I want to be sure that facts are driving scientific decisions -- and not the other way around."

Which way is it going to be Science driving policy or policy driving science? It looks as though science may be losing out-and considering that a growing number of scientists are increasingly critical of global warming- one has to ask is the present agenda of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Barack Obama, to enact sweeping global warming legislation, legislation that could severely impact all areas of the United States economy, based on science or ideology? This writer is forced to conclude it is based on ideology.

House Democrats declare war on America!

It also will be a bureaucratic nightmare overseen by a confusing web of government agencies that will take and redistribute trillions of dollars from family budgets and workers’ payrolls. Following is just a sampling of the national media’s coverage of Boehner’s unprecedented speech – and the House GOP’s stand against the Democrats’ costly, jobs-killing national energy tax..."
Hurrah for John Boehner! I saw his mini filibuster on C-Span. I couldn't believe the garbage that Rep. Boehner was reading from the "stealth" 300 page amendment that the Democrats pushed into the cap an tax bill that they passed last night. If it had been me I would have thrown the thing to the floor, stomped on it, and called It what it is garbage!
This monstrosity seeks to regulate virtually every single aspect of American life. No one or no institution is safe. It has provisions for ascertaining the energy efficiency of every home in America, and then making people reveal what their official government energy rating is before they can sell their house.
As written and passed this bill -if it becomes law- will extend the already too numerous tentacles of the federal government even further into the manufacturing, mining, energy production,and finance sectors of the economy. And that's no where near a complete list of all the areas this thing interferes in.
Whats even worse this abomination, is chock full of new agencies, programs, and expenditures, in order to carry out the provisions of this bill and to achieve the stated goals that Democrats want to achieve. And what are said stated goals? well according to the 300 page Waxman amendment they are as follows. House bill 2454 states the goals are too "To create clean energy jobs, achieve energy Independence, reduce global warming pollution and transition to a clean energy economy."
The truth however is something quite different, as Rep. Boehner pointed out, this bill will "Raise electricity prices, increase gasoline prices, and ship American jobs overseas..." At a time when we are losing our manufacturing base, plants are being closed down, and workers are losing their jobs in droves, this bill adds insult to injury.
At a time when gasoline prices are unaffordably high this is no time to cause them to go even higher just to satisfy the desires of Nancy Pelosi and the democrats.
The American clean energy and security act of 2009, as this bill is so euphemistically named, is in fact a declaration of war on every aspect of our economy and an assault on free market capitalism.
America can ill afford the nonsense and absolute stupidity that this bill will foist upon all of us. I urge anyone who reads this blog to call their senators and tell them you want this "Thing" killed when it gets to the senate.

The brave people of Iran yearn to be free!



Freedom! is it possible to say the word enough. Freedom! that is what the people of Iran are saying to the world. Freedom! The courageous people of Iran have taken to the street to exercise their natural right to object and protest the way their government is treating them.



The people of Iran are sick and tired of government bureaucrats, dictating every aspect of their lives. The mullahs, and the thugs, have made life in Iran a living hell, and the people are sick and tired of it. I speak only for myself but I strongly believe the majority of Americans feel solidarity with the people of Iran.



A former president said something to the effect that human beings, no matter where they live, regardless of nationality or religion, have a God given desire, to live free.



If you read this today, cry Freedom! It is the natural desire of all people.

A tribute to Neda Agha Soltan



The whole world now knows the story of Neda Aghan Solta, the 16 year old Iranian girl, shot down by the Revolutionary Thugs of Iran. Words cannot express how much this sad story makes my blood boil! Finally, today, Our President finally expressed "outrage, as well as ,"the outrage of the world, over how the Iranian thugs have been treating their people.



The death of this young woman is a reminder of the terrible price of freedom.



Thomas Jefferson said"The tree of liberty is watered with the blood of Patriots".



I fear many Americans have forgotten these timeless truths, and are all to willing, to trade freedom, for false prosperity, and the notion that government can give them lots, and lots, of something for nothing. I single out Democrats in particular, and liberals in general. They have taken our freedoms for granted, and even actively work, to undermine those freedoms.

Obama's tepid response to Iranian opression.

The audacity of hope. That was the mantra of the Obama campaign. But where has the audacity gone? The Iranian people, long oppressed , by the mullahs, and ,the ayatollahs, have finally had enough, and rebelled against the repressive oligarchy, that they have suffered under for so long. A movement for freedom, has started in Iran, and what does our glorious leader have to say?

Well, not much. It seems our President doesn't want to endanger his chances of negotiating with one of the worst dictators since Adolph Hitler.

I applaud the President for saying ,"the United States stands with all who seek to exercise their rights to assembly as well as free speech. However I think our President could have been more "audacious" in his denunciation of the mullahs oppression of the Iranian people.
He could have been as bold and audacious as Ronald Reagan was in his denunciation of Soviet oppression In Poland, Afghanistan, and Nicaragua. Reagan probably would have responded in the following way...
Reagan didn't apologise, he didn't equivocate, he saw America's place in the world, as a champion of liberty, freedom, and democracy. What would Reagan do if he were here today? I believe he would strongly condemn the actions of the Iranian government, and call upon them to tear down the wall of oppression, and unleash the genius, creativity, and untapped resources of the Iranian people, as a free people.
In a word, Reagan would cry "Freedom". Today the people of Iran are crying "Freedom" The question is, does our government, as well as our glorious leader, have the "audacity of hope, to join in their audacious hope for freedom?

Irony, OBama, and North Korea

"The U.S. military is preparing for a possible intercept of a North Korean flagged ship suspected of proliferating weapons material in violation of a U.N. Security Council resolution passed last Friday" Fox News. Friday June, 19, 2009.

Is America on the brink of war with North Korea? No one can say for sure, but, things don't look good. Over the past weeks, our young President, has indeed been getting quite a test from the Dictator of North Korea.

Now in the latest chapter in this ongoing saga, a North Korean freighter, "The Kang Nam", is suspected of transporting material that has been banned by U.N. resolution. That's rich, that the U.N. could be resolute, about anything, seems almost a contradiction in terms.

Apparently, according to Fox News, the ship appears to be heading to Singapore, and may well be carrying "weaponry, missile parts or nuclear materials, a violation of U.N. Resolution 1874".

It seems, Kim Ill is spoiling for a fight. First was the announcement that he would restart his nuclear reactor. Then we learned he had detonated a nuclear device, and if that wasn't bad enough, he starts shooting off missiles, like a kid , with bottle rockets on the Fourth of July. Come to think of it that's when, it is speculated, he may shoot a missile toward Hawaii.

During the election, Joe Biden's statement, about the "Young President" being tested, stirred quite a controversy. I find it Ironic, that now that our President, is indeed being tested by North Korea, the Navy decides to send the U.S.S John S. McCain, in to do the job. Perhaps if, former Vietnam war veteran, and prisoner of war, John McCain, had been elected, we might not have found ourselves in this situation.

Since the election of 2008 When our President, Barack OBama, was elected. It seems as though he, along with his accomplices in congress have been on a crusade to gather all- and I do mean -all power into Washington D.C. And unto them selves.
They seem to be following the same path as the Russian Communists of the Twentieth Century. Who sought to have everything centrally controlled.
The genius that has made this Nation great-is the notion- that individuals, local governments, and state governments, could come up with better solutions to the problems they face than a centralized government
Things have been happening lately that boggle the imagination, C.E.O.'s being fired by the government, companies being taken over by the government, and health care, being threatened by the government.
Our President and his minions in congress have been accumulating more and more power unto themselves. There's not a day goes by, that a new Department, Czar, or regulatory body, is not created by this president. At the same time the government seems to be less, and ,less responsive to the People. From the President on down this administration, and the Democrats in Congress, seek to bring "equality, and social justice, to the people. Salaries must be regulated, because it just isn't fair, for C.E.O.'s and top executive to be paid so much.
Companies must be regulated, because it's not fair for workers to take cuts, or even, be layed off, in order to save the company. It's not fair for big corporations , such as the oil companies, to make huge profits. Never mind that they also have huge expenses, and on average, only make about four cents, on every dollar they invest. While the Government makes more on a gallon if gas than they do. The financial sector must be regulated to bring "economic justice" to us all.
We've been down this road before. all the way back in the 1700"s, when King George the 3'rd took it upon himself, to usurp the power of local legislatures, replace Colonial Governor, and annul charters that gave certain rights to the Colonies.
Consider these words from our Declaration of Independance... "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal - That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed- That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."
This greatest of political documents- in the history of man- goes on to list the grievances which our forefathers had against the King... "He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them." Given Barack isn't guilty of this specific trespass. But at his direction the Congress did dictate to the states how spending bills relate to the stimulus should be crafted, specifically, demanding that any stimulus spending states make be permanent.
"He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance." Does this sound familiar! especially the eating out their substance part. The harassment has already started, and if not vigorously opposed, will spread its evil tentacles into the lives ,as well as , livelihood of every man,women, and child .in this country
I don't want to be extreme. I have no desire for any kind of violence. Abraham Lincoln said" The Ballot is more powerful than the bullet". I still hold out faith, that the genius, of our Constitution will prevail, and we get rid of the current gang , through the wonder of a bloodless revolution through the ballot box.That said. Our founding Fathers didn't seek violence, they did not want to be extreme, but alas circumstances, history, and the stubbornness, of a King, to listen to His people, forced their hand.
At this point, if it is extreme, to want a return to our original values, and , ideals of Liberty,Freedom ,and Justice, Then count me extreme.
This current crowd would do well, to bone up on their history, and turn away from this headlong rush to socio-facism. And God forbid- they attempt- to make permanent- their grip on power by subverting the political process. then I to will be forced to say...

Health Care Reform: Change We Can Believe In?



Well here we go again. Once more -Our Glorious Leader- Barack Hussein OBama has said a current issue must be taken care of now, with seemingly no time for debate. Just as with the so called Stimulus, The Budget, and the Detroit bailout. This time it's Health Care.

He's calling on Congress to do something now, like in right now. I remember an old adage that said "Act in haste, repent at leisure. If only our Politicians in Washington would heed this common sense advice.

Over the past several years we have been told time and time again that "Our health care system is broken'. I'll admit there is considerable room for improvement, but , at the present time an individual will not, and cannot be refused, the urgent health care they need. Basically, if you need urgent care, it is illegal, for hospitals to refuse anyone treatment. Seems to me that's a pretty sweet deal. This is one reason medical care is so expensive. Those of us with insurance, or the money to pay, are subsidising, already, those without the means to pay their bills. Actually American health care appears to be very good.

Case in point. The National Center For Policy Analysis Say's..." Americans have better survival rates than Europeans for common cancers". What's more they say "Americans have better access to treatment for chronic diseases than patients in other developed countries." In fact they report that " "Americans are more satisfied with the health care they receive than Canadians. So much for a broken system.

Consider these facts: Out of the top ten most recent medical developments ,that have revolutionized medicine, seven were developed in the United States and one category ,hip and, knee replacements, were developed jointly-no pun intended- between the United States, United Kingdom, and Japan.

The President, as well as, his fellow Democrats in Congress, wants to foist upon the American People the same kind of medical system that is seen in Canada, Britain, as well as Europe. Why would we want to emulate these countries where patients often wait, as long as a year, to have surgeries, we take for common, such as knee or hip replacement surgery. I have even heard stories of people needing emergency treatment for things such as, blood clots and appendicitis , being misdiagnosed, given pain pills, and sent home where they later died. We don't need health care reform of this sort. We were promised-during the election- "Change we can believe in" In my opinion- this is change we can live without.

The Midwest Fair Tax Rally Columbia Missouri

Today, this writer, went to the Midwest Tax Rally in Columbia Missouri. It was a great time. I met people from all over. People from Oklahoma, Arizona, Georgia. There were plenty of Missourians there to. Some highlights from the rally were listening to Joe the Plumber and Neil Boortz. But I have to give a special shout out to Kevin Jackson author of the blog theblacksphere.blogspot.com

This was, as this writer has said, a "Fair Tax Rally." What is the "Fair Tax"? "The Fair tax is a nonpartisan proposal that replaces all federal income taxes with a progressive tax on the consumption of new goods and services." As described in the pamphlet "The Missouri Fair Tax Welcomes You."

There motto being Show Me: Simplicity, Transparency,and Fairness."

I cannot put into words how excited I am at this growing "Revolution." Americans who still believe in freedom, democracy, and the Constitution, must get acquainted with this movement.

Their aims are to stop taxation of saving and investment.


To give every worker a "full paycheck." In other words you would no longer have gross and net pay, but rather, just income. All workers could take home EVERYTHING THEY MAKE, excuse me for shouting ,but this is something, to shout about.

It aims to give retirees, and those with fixed incomes, more disposable income.

It stops the export of American jobs overseas. Because under the Fair Tax corporations won't be taxed into oblivion, and won't need, to go overseas just to make a profit!

Bottom line here is the Fair Tax: eliminates "All Federal Income Taxes, All Payroll Taxes, All Death and Gift Taxes, as well as the I.R.S.!!! It makes our tax system voluntary, and eliminates a score of hidden taxes, and compliance costs, that are currently contained in our tax code.

Tired of having the government raid your paycheck, each and every week, and taking nearly half of what you earn? then the Fair Tax is for you! The Fair Tax is, simply put, a consumption tax. It wipes out all income taxes, corporate taxes,taxes on savings, as well as ,taxes on capitol gains, and replaces it with one simple form of taxation,one that is fair, across the board, and progressive as well. The more you spend, the more you pay. But perhaps the greatest benefit of all ,is that, it gets the heavy hand of government out of your life, and returns control of your money back to you. In other words the greatest benefit, is ,increased freedom for every one.

Lets face it, any fool could see, that the current system is broken. No one ,probably not even the I.R.S., knows what the untold volumes of the tax code contains. It is a -more than sixty year old- hodgepodge of rules and regulations. It is an intrusion by the government in to the lives, and business, of Americans, that would shock The Founding Fathers. Their philosophy was that less government was better government, and when they wrote the Constitution, they didn't put an income tax in it. If they had thought that a direct tax on personal, and business income, was a good idea they would have done so.

It is past time to get the Taxman off the backs of working men and women. Why should they have to choose between buying groceries and paying the utilities, or buying insurance. With the fair tax in place there would be plenty of money to do more and then some. I myself am fortunate to have good insurance where I work, plus I have an F.S.A. The Fair Tax would go a long way in helping to solve the Health Care Crisis.

It's past time to get the tax man off corporations. The Fair Tax would make American Companies extremely competitive in the world market, and I believe, lead companies from all over the world to come here and build factories, etc. With the extra money corporations would have, they would be better able to, raise wages and increase capacity, which means more jobs, and, provide insurance to their employees.

People would be able to save money without the government taxing their savings. Investors would be able to keep ALL their capital gains, which means, more investment in America. It doesn't take a Fulbright scholar- and lord knows I'm not one- to see that this is a win win for every citizen, as well as ,our Nation.

But the thing I like the best is it gets the government gun out of our faces by eliminating the I.R.S. For much to long our government has used the power of the state, and the threat of criminal punishment, to extort money from it's own Citizens.

North Korea would use nuclear weapons in a 'merciless offensive'





Yes once again the dictator that everyone loves to hate has threatened the entire world.
According to the official Korean Central News Agency,

"Our nuclear deterrent will be a strong defensive means...as well as a merciless offensive means to deal a just retaliatory strike to those who touch the country's dignity and sovereignty even a bit,".
This is quite a bold ,as well as, provocative statement. In the past the North Koreans have insisted that any nuclear weapons they might possess are for strictly defensive purposes. Now however they are also bragging that they will be used as offensive weapons ,if any nation, dare "Touch" their dignity as a nation."
What does that mean? If anyone dare criticize Korea, or it's hopelessly insane leader, Kim Ill Jung, are they going to be subject to Nuclear attack?
What is the purpose of the recent bellicosity of North Korea? Do they want a war with the United States, Japan, South Korea, as well as any other country that would see fit to join us?
At first I thought, maybe, they do. But I believe their may be more to it. I'm not discounting ,that for some reason, they might want to fight us, but there may well be other factors that motivate them.
One such factor may be that they are actually advertising the fact that they now have some form of nuclear weapon and the means to deliver it over a distance desirable to groups such as Al-Kaeda or whatever, Hamas, or any other lunatic group that wishes the rest of the world harm. This writer suspects this may be a very important objective of their current campaign of idiocy.
There is however another possibility. It may just be that they have serious, and I mean serious, designs on South Korea. Consider this quote from The Korean Central News Agency.


Dateline June 8 2009 : "Pyongyang, June 8 (KCNA) -- The elimination of anti-reunification traitors is an urgent task before the Korean nation desirous of its reunification, says Rodong Sinmun Monday in a signed article."

And what or whom are these so called anti- reunification traitors? No less a light than the President of South Korea, as well as , his entire administration. Why does this writer think this to be the Case? I'll let the North Korean lunatics speak for themselves.
"It is the Lee "government" veiled with the signboard of "pragmatism" that brought to naught overnight the successes made in the development of the inter-Korean relations which the Korean nation has achieved through concerted efforts in the June 15 era of reunification and revived the past fascist dictatorial policy in the south Korean political circle. It is due to the Lee regime that the confrontation between the north and the south has reached such an extreme phase that a war may break out any moment in Korea."

North Korea is in dire straits. Our country may be bankrupt, but his country really takes the cake. They have people flooding across the border with China the way we have people coming over from Mexico. The people aren't just poor, they're starving, freezing, and God knows what else. Meanwhile these nuts in Pyong Yang live like gods. Any way I digress.

North Korea has in essence, as well as in fact, made a death threat against the entire government of South Korea.
Bottom line. They want to make an incursion into South Korea, seize as much South Korean wealth and land as possible. They have looked at our current President, and judged him, to be weak. They have looked at our majority party and figure they will have no gut for war, and have come to the conclusion that, if they provoke a war with us,and South Korea,that they can quickly make significant inroads into the South, then , at the right moment, or perhaps when we are about to turn them back, make an appeal for negotiations, and bank on the fact, that no matter how outrageous their actions, we would stop operation, enter into negotiations, and quite likely allow this bunch of mutts to keep what they gained i.e. Israel and the Arab states during the Six day war.


Well I've gone a little long, but there is no doubt about it, Kim Ill and his band of sickos aren't going away, unless the world gets some guts and take this bunch of clowns down.

"Be Mindful of God"
Well once again our glorious leader,Barack Obama, has globe trotted around the world, apologizing for our past actions, apologising for this Nations support for Democracy, as well as trying to woo moderate-if there really are any- Muslims ,as well as, trying to appease the Muslims, who are truly terrorists. Especially of note was his widely reported quote "As the Holy Quran tells us, 'Be conscious of God and speak always the truth."

Turns out this verse has actually been quoted by extreme Muslim clerics to justify Jihad against-"The Infidels"-in other words-us. According to

His is not a verse that calls upon Muslims to be tolerant of others, but rather, actually encourages violence, because all Muslims are instructed by the Koran to heed the words of the so called prophet.This means that if they are to support, and follow Mohammad, they must wage Jihad against the infidel-i.e. anyone who disagrees with their ideas about God, or as they call him ,Allah,. The next Quranic passage continues: "Neither the dwellers of the city, nor the Arabs around them, shall seek to stay behind the messenger of Allah (when he mobilizes for war). Nor shall they give priority to their own affairs over supporting him. This is because they do not suffer any thirst, or any effort, or hunger in the cause of Allah, or take a single step that enrages the disbelievers, or inflict any hardship upon the enemy, without having it written down for them as a credit. Allah never fails to recompense those who work righteousness."

Enraging disbelievers, as well as ,inflicting hardship upon them, is actively encouraged.
Well Obama either stepped in it big time on this one, or -could it be- he was showing solidarity with them. I choose to think that some of his handlers were familiar with the "Be Mindful of God" part, but either were ignorant, or chose to ignore, the rest of this passage in it's context. Or it could be that he was actually trying-in some way- to appease our enemies.

At the very least the President would do better to instruct those in the "
Muslim" world to "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"

Finally Health care reform we can believe in!
Michell Bachmann Congresswoman from Minnesota introduced legislation back in January that would make obtaining health insurance for individuals not covered by employers much easier.

For several years now a debate over health care has raged in Washington, as well as ,around the nation. We all can remember "Hillary care" and the controversy surrounding it. Basically it was Clinton's proposal to socialize medicine. Thank God, once this boondoggle was exposed, and the public became outraged,this attempt at socializing medicine went down in flames.

Fast forward to today, under the guise of universal health care, Barack Obama, and his minions in congress, are attempting to resurrect this stinking carcass. Make no mistake, what the President and the Democrats in Congress, are proposing , is nothing less than the same kind of socialistic medicine we see in countries such as France, England,and Canada, to name But a few. Our President would have us join the ranks of the people of these nations waiting in line for care and treatment that most Americans take for granted.

Enter H.R. Bill # 502, introduced in January of this year, would make it possible for uninsured workers to obtain health insurance on their own, provide freedom of choice in health care, and stimulate competition in the health care industry thereby reducing cost for all consumers. It would make it possible for all workers to take control of their own health care destinies, and in time may be able to allow workers to find the insurance that is right ,as well as best, for them, and not whats best for their employers.

New Statue of Ronald Reagan Unveiled in U.S. Capitol
















Yesterday A new statue to one of this nations greatest Presidents was unveiled in Washington D.C. What a tribute to an absolutely great man. The news reports said that the creator of the statue even put debris from the Berlin Wall at the base of the statue. How fitting,as Reagan once called for "Mikail Gorbachev to "Tear Down This Wall".

Ronald Wilson Reagan was a man who absolutely loved this nation. He was a Patriot, Statesman, and Leader. At a time when others thought America's best day's were behind her-he echoed the sentiments of Ben Franklin - when he said "The Sun is coming up on America."

The heart of Reagan's politics was a firm belief that individuals could best shape their own destiny - and they could do it best- with as little interference from Government as possible. He was a strong believer in the power of the human spirit to innovate, create, and produce.

Above all else Ronald Reagan was a Patriot. He had an unwavering faith in the beliefs, ideals, and principles, on which this Nation was founded. That all men were of equal value in the eyes of our creator. That every man had a God given right to freedom. And that given free reign there was nothing that free men could not accomplish.

He never apologized for America's actions. Instead -as Cheerleader in Chief- he extolled the virtues of America, and pointed out how , over the course of our history, we had consistently spent large amounts of treasure, as well as blood, to bring freedom to all the peoples of the Earth. What a contrast to our current President , who constantly seems to apologise for you and for me, and, even apologises to the world for our support of democracy.

Yes Ronald Wilson Reagan was a man who believed in the power of the individual, the rightness of Democracy, and the purely American Ideal of a limited government democratically elected by the people.

Supreme Court Nominee Sonia Sotomayor: A question of integrity?

"Because judicial power is limited by Article III of the Constitution, judges should seek only to resolve the specific grievance, ripe for resolution, of the parties before the court and within the law as written and interpreted in precedents," she said. "Intrusion by a judge upon the functions of the other branches of government should only be done as a last resort and limitedly."

During her first confirmation hearing before Congress in 1991 Supreme Court nominee, Sonia Sotomayor, gave this interesting answer to Republican concerns that she would be an "activist" judge. At that time it appears that Ms. Sotomayor said, what she knew, her questioners on the right, wanted to hear, that if nominated, she would follow the Constitution.

Later During a during a visit to the Duke university School of Law, Ms. Sotomayor made the following comment.

Is it just me, or is there a glaring discrepancy, between these two statements? On the one hand, when before Congress, she attempted to reassure conservatives, that she was not an "activist" judge. On the other hand, when she thought, no one would find out, she revealed her true feelings about 'Judicial" activism.

Apparently ,she is comfortable, not only usurping the power of the legislative branch, which makes law, but also the executive branch, which formulates policy. It seems to me she has a problem of integrity.

The definition of integrity is," consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations and outcome. According to this definition, she definitely, misses the mark.

Do we really want a Supreme Court Justice -that say's what is politically expedient - not to mention - may be led more by emotion than by law - or one that say's what she really believes. If there is one place integrity is of paramount importance, I would think, it would be in any judicial nominee, not to mention a Supreme Court Nominee.

My hope is that the Republicans will have the guts to challenge her on this point and, perhaps just perhaps , derail this nominee before she makes it to the highest court in the land.

Nancy Pelosi calls for "Scrutiny of every aspect of our lives.

When I first heard this quote I was blown away. What did the esteemed speaker of the house mean? Does Ms. Pelosi wish to use the almighty power of the government to subject us, the citizenry of the United States, to scrutiny? Are we to have our electric bills examined, our driving habits and pattern's analyzed?
I've been researching this,and so far have no definitive answers. It appears she may have been making an off the cuff remark when she said "Every aspect of our lives must be subjected to an inventory ... of how we are taking responsibility." However coming from a Senator who, seems to think, government power should know no limits, this is scary. In the same speech she also said "I do see this opportunity for climate change to be ... a game-changer," she said at Tsinghua. "It's a place where human rights — looking out for the needs of the poor in terms of climate change and healthy environment — are a human right."
Perhaps 'Human rights, and "social justice" will be the issue she, and other democrats,will push in order to justify this draconian intrusion into the every day lives of ordinary Americans. In light of the fact that, with her Democratic Majority in the House, as well as, Mr. Reids in the Senate, this country is effectively a one party state, statements like these are even more alarming. Some commentators even seem to think that environmental extremists see the Chinese system of government as a possible vehicle to realizing their far left environmentalist dreams

Time will eventually tell, this may just be a broad generalization of what she thinks every American should do, or it may be the first hint at an agenda that a lot of Americans will not like. We'll see what the future holds in store.

Korea Threatens World!

"Merciless punishment beyond imagination!" That is what North Korea has threatened to any who dare to stand up to their outrageous behavior of the last,not just days,but years. How long is the world, let alone the United States, gong to put up with the juvenile antics from this lunatic? Reportedly the Russians are preparing the public in their eastern provinces for nuclear war!
As I listened to the news this morning their were some quotes from certain world leaders that, made me think, they wish this would all just go away. Well I've got news for you folks this isn't going away. The only thing thugs like him, and Saddam Hussein, and Al quida, or however the hell you spell those freaks name,understand is force,brutal, unrelenting, merciless force.
The Democrats in this country ridiculed our former President for naming Iraq, Iran, and North Korea, the "Axis Of Evil". One leg of the Axis is gone but the other two are still standing, and more capable now, of mischief, than ever before.
I propose a solution to this " North Korean" problem. It's time for a coalition between ,America Russia,China, South Korea, and Japan. The Chinese could mass their military on the Korean's northern border. Have Russia form up on their western side, America and South Korea to the south, and The United States Navy, as well as The Japanese Navy, off their eastern coast.
Then tell them in no uncertain terms, either they stop this rush to war, or we,The United States will put the same shock and awe that George Bush put on Bagdad, right square on their heads.
If they refuse to heed this warning, then shock and awe baby! If, however, they still have one nuke left, and unwisely use it, then all the "Coalition Powers" would unleash their full conventional arsenals loose on them!

A Dec 7Pearl Harbor remembrance and salute to three veterans I know

 Why have I chosen to post this? Because two men who I know and admire, were there on that day, and served with distinction, and valor. I came to know these true American heroes through my wife, they are her Uncles William (Bill) Richards, and Theodore (Chick) Manning. The third veteran is my son Travis O'Neill. below is an account of what transpired at Pearl Harbor, as well as,Iraq, and my tribute to these men, and all who have served this country


On the morning of Dec 7,1941 Ted and Bill were preparing to go to church when the attack ocurred. Needless to say, they didn't get to worship that day. Neither Ted nor Bill have ever talked about their service very much. I still don't know to this day exactly what Bill did on that day, I do know he received a commendation,as well as either the Bronze or Silver star. For all I know, perhaps even more medals. Ted the same thing, Presidential Commendation plus Bronze or Silver Star. I've never seen Bill's medals, and Ted's only once.
A few years ago our family went out to North Carolina, and visited Ted. During our stay we visited the USS North Carolina.On this day Ted talked more about that day, than He did before or since. The North Carolina is either a sister ship, or in the same class as the Pennsylvania. Actually as far as I know that may be the same thing.
Any way Ted took me to an anti-aircraft gun that was his battle station on that fatal day. He called,if I remember right, a thirty eight. This gun was at deck level. There was another identical gun on the right hand side,elevated by a few feet. Ted told me that when the attack commenced he immediately ran to his gun and began firing. 

On the elevated gun next to his, was a good friend he had gone through basic with. Ted told that as the battle ensued, a Japanese aircraft came in and his friend was hit in the head by a round from the plane's guns. He recounted how his buddie's head exploded and half his brain landed on the trigger area of Ted's gun. He said all he could do, was sweep away this man's brain with his hand, and keep on shooting.

That day on The North Carolina was the most he ever said about his service at Pearl Harbor.During our visit on the ship he became somewhat emotional and wanted some time alone. My family and I set off to explore the rest of the ship. Several minutes later we were on a higher deck and saw Ted surrounded by a crowd of people. He had become an unofficial ship's guide. I'll always treasure that day. Ted's gone now, but I love his memory, and thank God. that I was privileged to know him.

Bill, thank God is still with us. However,as I said, Bill has never talked about his service. I do know that he went on to distinguish himself on patrol torpedo boats, and saw action in the Korean War as well. He served this country for twenty years then retired. I cannot express in words the admiration I have for these men.

The third veteran is my son, Travis O'Neill, the one and only follower of this old man's blog. Travis enlisted in the Marines in 1998 when he was a junior in high school. A short time after he graduated high school, he shipped out for the Marine Corps. Recruit Training Depot in San Diego. After graduation, and Combat training at Twenty Nine Palms , he was stationed at Camp Pendelton California.

I'll never forget the emotion, and pride, I felt when I saw him march across the Parade Ground, at the M.C.R.D., in San Diego. He went on to be stationed with the first Marine Division, Headquarters Battalion, at Camp Pendelton.
In the late summer of 2002 he shipped out, or rather flew, to Iraq. He eventually found himself station at First Marine Division Headquarters in Al Rhamadi Iraq during some of the heaviest fighting of the insurgency. At that time the area was known as the "Triangle of Death".

Those were damn'ed tough day's for his mother and I. Travis was stationed in one of the Saddam brother's former Palaces in Al-Rhamadi, and endured daily mortar shelling, as well as small arms attacks, from al-quaeda insurgents. At one point ay least, perhaps more, because I feel he has never told us all that he went through, he was actually blown out of bed by one of these rounds.

 After six months in theater,thank God,he returned home safe and sound. Wow! what a happy day that was. Ted,Bill, and Travis, I cannot express the pride, love, and admiration I have, for theses three men, as well as all the men and women who have served, and sacrificed, for this country. This is just my feeble attempt to express my gratitude for the part they played in keeping this country safe and free.

Reports of the Action of December 7, in accordance with references, – of the extent and sequence of attacks, of the times of attacks, of the number of planes involved –, are based on conflicting and confused testimony of many observers, including the Commanding Officer, none of whom could observe more than a part of the action at any one time.
STATUS AND CONDITION OF SHIP BEFORE ACTION.
In drydock No. k, with three propeller shafts removed. Destroyers Cassin and Downes in dock ahead of Pennsylvania. New drydock West of Pennsylvania dry but not occupied. Floating dock West of new drydock occupied by destroyer Shaw. Cruiser Helena with Oglala alongside dock at berth B-2, (Pennsylvania's normal berth) astern of Pennsylvania. Across the channel in berth F-3 – California; berth F-5 – Maryland inboard, Oklahoma outboard; berth F-6 – Tennessee inboard, West Virginia outboard; berth F-7 – Arizona; berth F-8 – Nevada.
Pennsylvania had been excused from anti-aircraft drills while and because of being in drydock (no drills scheduled for Sunday). Machine guns in foremast were, however, manned. A Condition Watch of anti-aircraft personnel was available on board but not on guns. Commanding Officer and First Lieutenant were aboard, together with department representatives from each department. No orders to alert were received.
Ship was receiving steam, power and water from the Yard.
NARRATIVE OF ACTION.
First Call to colors had been sounded, when about 0757, explosions were heard on the end of Ford Island abreast drydock No. 1. When second explosion took place, it was realized that an air raid was in progress. Men started proceeding to their stations and "Air Defense" was sounded. Shortly after, general quarters was sounded. Condition "YOKE" was set as soon as stations were manned. In many cases men knocked off locks of ammunition ready boxes and ready stowages, not waiting for keys. 0802 - Attack by torpedo planes came in from West and South, attacking Oglala and Helena and battleships across the channel. Number of planes not recorded, estimate 12 or 15.
0802 to 0805 (Exact time not known). Pennsylvania commenced firing at enemy planes, – reported as first ship opening fire by personnel on board. All anti-aircraft batteries were rapidly brought into action. After release of torpedoes three planes came in low from the port beam, strafing Pennsylvania, – strafing attack not effective. During the torpedo attack, one enemy plane was observed to burst into flames about 2,000 yards on the starboard bow.
Dive bombing attacks, torpedo attack on Pearl Harbor and dive bombing attacks on Hickam Field continued.
Sometime between 8 and 8:30 a.m. the Nevada was observed to be getting underway and reached a point about on the Pennsylvania's starboard quarter, distant about 600 yards when a dive bombing attack was observed to approaching the Pennsylvania on the port bow, 10 or 15 planes coming in succession, low altitude. This was between 0830 and 0900. This attack apparently was directed at the Pennsylvania and the two destroyers in dock. These attacking planes were taken under heavy fire. Just before reaching Pennsylvania, about two-thirds appeared to swerve to the left, a number of them dropping bombs at the Nevada, with some misses ahead, some misses astern, and at least one hit apparently in the vicinity of the bridge. The Nevada was observed to stop.
At the same time, other planes of this attack passed to port and over the Pennsylvania and dropped bombs which fell in the water beyond the caisson. Except probably for machine gun bullets it is believed that the Pennsylvania was not hit during this attack.
One of the dive bombers dropped a bomb on the Shaw in the floating drydock, setting it on fire.
The Nevada was observed to slowly swing around, head to port and broadside to the channel, later drifting across the harbor, on fire forward.
During the period 0830 to 0915 - HIGH BOMBING ATTACK.
About 5 high bombing attacks were observed to pass over the Pennsylvania, one from the port bow, one from ahead and one from ahead passing to starboard, two from astern. These attacks were in "V" formation generally with from 4 to 6 planes in each formation, usually five. Formations maintained straight course and I estimate were at an altitude of 10,000 to 12,000 feet.
The first attack coming in from ahead and passing to starboard is believed to have bombed the battleships across the channel.
The second attack coming in slightly on the port bow dropped bombs on the ships in the drydock, one heavy bomb hit the destroyer Downes in the dock ahead of the Pennsylvania, one hit the dock approximately abreast frame 20 starboard of the Pennsylvania and one hit the boat deck of the Pennsylvania a few feet abaft 5"/25 gun No. 7, passing through the boat deck and detonating in the casemate of 5"/51 gun No. 9. The fifth bomb is believed to have struck the water outside the dock.
The third high bombing attack from ahead, appeared to drop bombs shortly after passing overhead on battleships across the channel.
The bomb hits on the Pennsylvania and Downes occurred at 0906.
All high bombing attacks were fired on by all batteries. 5" bursts appeared to have been accurate, but later it was estimated that fuze settings were too short and that the bombing formation was not being reached, perhaps by several thousand feet.
SPORADIC ATTACKS.
Sporadic attack continued for some 15 minutes afterwards. Last observed attack was from a plane passing to the South at a low altitude along the port beam of the Pennsylvania. About thirty machine gun hits in the shield around the maintop machine gunners may have come from this plane. These machine gun bullets did not penetrate the shield. This plane was taken under heavy fire by our port battery and was hit by the machine gun on the port side of the stack while going away and crashed in the hospital grounds. This destruction of plane is practically certain (observers on this ship claimed to have destroyed six enemy planes. There is fairly good proof of two having been hit by this ship, but there is no way to confirm the other claims).
FLOODING OF DRYDOCK.
Flooding of drydock was started about 0920. At this time both destroyers ahead were heavily on fire. The bomb hit on dock at 0907 had cut yard power, and subsequently power on the ship for lights, gun operation, etc., was taken from the ship's storage batteries. At the same time, fire main pressure, being received from the yard, was cut off.
Fires were lighted under No. 4 boiler, beginning at 0830. Raising steam on board was hampered because of the smoke coming from a cold boiler. This smoke interfered with anti-aircraft fire, so that it had to be minimized. At 1010 the dock had become sufficiently flooded. Fire and bilge pumps on the ship were started, and at 1028 power on ship was taken on two generators.
FIRE IN THE DOCK.
Both destroyers ahead were on fire from stem to stern, and fire was transmitted to oil on the water in dock, setting fire to the paint on the starboard bow of the Pennsylvania. Fire was being fought by hose from the dock, on the side of the Cassin. No hose was available for fighting fire on the Downes.
About 0930, explosions on the destroyers ahead began to take place, and at 0941, war heads on Downes exploded on the starboard side, covering the area with debris. A section of torpedo tube, weighing between 500 and 1,000 lbs. struck on the Pennsylvania's forecastle. Precautionary measures were taken on the bow of the Pennsylvania to prevent the spread of the fire internally. Aluminum paint in compartments A-102 and A-602-1 melted and flowed down to the bottom of the compartments. Fire was brought under control before serious damage to the Pennsylvania resulted.
The Cassin, from which part of the bottom of the hull had been removed for dock work, rolled over on the Downes during the fire.
DAMAGE TO PENNSYLVANIA.
A 500-lb. bomb dropped from high altitude bomber, 10,000 to 12,000 feet, penetrated the boat deck inside the protective shield and just abaft No. 7, 5"/25 cal. gun. After passing through this deck, apparently it was either deflected or rolled slightly in the compartment before detonating. The detonation caused the boat deck to open up for a space of about 20' X 20', opening up upward, and the casemate deck was opened up in a similar area, opening up downward. The bulkhead abaft Gun No. 9, 5"/51 cal. was blown out, and gun was put out of action. Explosion wrecked a considerable part of galley equipment and caused fuel oil from the service tank to run into the decks below.
The explosion blast and fragments dished in the main deck and penetrated to the second deck. 3" ammunition was being passed through the compartment on the main deck just forward of 3" clipping room, serving No. 3, 3"/50 cal. gun on quarter deck. At the time of the explosion, boxes containing about 24 rounds of 3" were in this compartment. Of these, cartridge cases of 8 - 3" projectiles were perforated, the fragments causing the propellant powder to burn, but none exploded.
Fragments on the boat deck struck a 40' motor sailing launch in the skids perforating the side in a number of places. This motor launch probably saved some personnel manning port guns.
This bomb explosion caused fire in the casemate and on the main deck and on the second deck. Fire was difficult to put out because of the lack pressure on fire mains, and because of difficulty of extinguishing fire in the painted cork lining on bulkheads. A large number of fire extinguishers were used. Fire, water and oil caused damage to officers' rooms on second deck in vicinity of explosion.
Casing of ammunition hoist to 5"/25 battery was dished in by the explosion putting this ammunition hoist out of action for the time being. Three flights of the hoist were also buckled.
Degaussing cable in vicinity of explosion was ruptured, necessitating complete repairs. (Degaussing cable was also cut in a number of other places by fragments).
Platform for operation of Gun No. 7, 5"/25 was raised by the explosion and this gun was adjacent to the large section of deck blown up. After explosion gun could not be trained to the limits of train forward, but after casualties had been replaced gun was continued in action.
Power failures from the dock were frequent necessitating using local control on one battery practically throughout the engagement. The battery power could only be used for one side.
CASUALTIES.
The bomb explosion in casemate No. 9, caused the death of about 26 men and two officers. One officer, the First Lieutenant, Lieutenant Commander J.E. Craig, U.S.N., was probably passing through the compartment to carry out specially assigned duties aft. Lieutenant (junior grade) Richard R. Rall, Medical Corps, U.S.N., was at the Battle Dressing Station in the Warrant Officer's Mess Room, when killed.
Of the men, a number were killed on Gun No. 7, a larger number in casemate No. 9, some additional in the "V" division compartment on the main deck under casemate No. 9, and some in the vicinity of No. 3, 3" gun.
One man, manning the donkey boiler on the dock (supplying steam to the ship) was killed, probably either by a machine gun bullet or by the bomb hit on the dock on the starboard side of the ship.
Total number of wounded was 29. Nature of wounds -- severe burns, multiple wounds.
DISTINGUISHED CONDUCT.
The conduct of all officers and men was of the highest order. There was no flinching. There was no necessity of urging men to action. Rather was there perhaps in some cases over zeal in the matter of expending ammunition. The Commanding Officer would be glad to recommend each individual participating in the action for distinguished conduct, but recognizes that this cannot well be done.
There were, however, a number of cases of wounded men insisting on continuing on station, serving guns, until ordered to battle dressing stations to have the wounds attended. A complete list of these is not yet available.
A number of yard workmen assisted in handling lines fighting fires and one even joined the ammunition group of a gun's crew.
It was noted by everyone participating in the action that after it had been going on for an hour and a half to two hours, each officer and man experienced a heavy thirst which was largely unquenchable, requiring excessive drinking of water. This confirms the necessity of having water at all battle stations in readiness for action.
EXPENDITURE OF AMMUNITION.
At about 1030 the Pennsylvania sent motor launches to West Loch for more ammunition. At about 1800 complete replacement of ammunition had been made. The first motor launch returned with ammunition during the noon hour. It was impossible to make a complete check of ammunition expended and received, however, the estimated expenditure was:

350 rounds.
.50 cal.

60,000 rounds.
3"/50 caliber was in a number of instances fired at high altitude bombers, beyond their range. Under the conditions it was probably unwise to attempt to stop this. .50 caliber was fired at high altitude bombers on a number of occasions with a consequent waste of ammunition. Steps were taken to correct this.
REPAIRS.
Preparatory work for repairing damage of bomb hit was started by the ship's force about 1400. Later, – the following day, this work was carried on by yard forces and ship's force together. One 5"/51 gun and mount was obtained by the ship's force from the West Virginia for installation on this ship.
In addition, No. 3, 5"/25 gun, was slightly bulged by our own fire. New gun was obtained from West Virginia by the ship's force.
It is estimated repairs will be completed on December 17. Ship was ready to go to sea immediately upon undocking on December 12, with exception of not having No. 9, 5"/51 gun ready.
It is not practicable to estimate the total number of planes that participated in the attack on the ships in Pearl Harbor and Ford Island, but I would say at least 60.

The Revolution Begins!

"California voters have crushed efforts by elected leaders to patch a gaping hole in the state budget with a package of ballot measures that included borrowing, extending $16 billion worth of taxes and promising to reform future budgets with a reserve fund and a spending cap.
With about a quarter of the state's precincts in as of 9:30 p.m., the Secretary of State's Office reported none of Propositions 1A through 1E were garnering more than 41 percent of the vote. Only Proposition F, which would freeze the salaries of state elected officials in bad budget years, was winning - and it was winning big".


"The era of apologizing for Republican mistakes of the past is now officially over. It is done. The time for trying to fix or focus on the past has ended. The era of Republican navel gazing is over. We have turned the corner on regret, recrimination, self-pity and self-doubt. Now is the hour to focus all of our energies on winning the future".

Speech to R.N.C. State Chairmen 05/19/2009

Tonight's title is "The Revolution Begins". I started this post last night to talk about Michael Steel's address the the R.N.C. state chairman. However I got a late start and figured it could wait. I'm glad I did. Because yesterday California voters showed they had had enough and said No! to their elected leaders .

Pundits, columnists,and journalists, of the liberal stripe, thought that the teabaggers were an anomaly, just a curiosity for them to ridicule and make fun of. Yesterday's vote should go far to disabuse them of that notion. The people of California,in their wisdom,demonstrated that the men and women of that state have had enough of government run wild, and I believe, reflected the sentiments of a sizeable number of people in the Nation.

Many people that I work with, and have spoken with, that supported Obama, are rapidly becoming disillusioned with what the current crowd in Washington is doing. The President, as well as the Democrats in Congress, would do well to pay heed to the messages being sent by the -"Teabaggers- as well as the people of California. Californians were at the forefront of the last "Taxpayer Revolt", that culminated in Ronald Reagan being elected President. Indeed I am convinced ,a second conservative revolution, is even now in the making. I wish it God's speed.

Now to R.N.C. Chairman Michael Steel.

Since the last election. those of us who call ourselves conservative, and identify with the Republican Party, have been told that -we must shift to the "center'-in other words we need to turn left. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The reason the Republicans lost Congress, as well as, the presidency, is that they strayed from the conservative principles, as well as promises, they ran on.

They promised to cut spending, but increased it They promised to end earmarks, but didn't. They promised to bring "change" to Washington, but the people just got more of the same old thing. Then along came the Likes of Polosi and Reid promising to reign in spending, cut earmarks, and most important of all, end what they called "The culture of corruption in Washington", what really happened? Instead of ,"Change we could believe in", we got more of the same, and worse.

Lets take a quick look at what these characters have done. In their first four months in office they spent more money than President Bush spent in eight years! In fact, this bunch, has out spent every administration, since the founding of the Nation!. Add to that the fact that these Bozo's set new records in the earmark department, and lets not even talk about the "New Culture of Corruption". (Remember all those nominees who hadn't paid their taxes). No wonder the Democratic leadership never saw a Dollar they didn't want ,or a tax, they didn't love. Oh then there is the little thing about Nancy Polosi lying about what she knew about the so called "torture" issue.

If the Republican Party wants to win back Congress, as well as the Presidency, they will have to pledge to cut taxes, end earmarks, and stop business as usual in Congress. they are going to have to get back to Reagan Conservatism, sound fiscal policies, and the principles that served them so well through the eighties and nineties.
Mr. Steele has made a good start, but The party still has much to do. Not only do Republican Candidates have to run on these traditional planks of the G.O.P., but they will also have to carry through on the Promise.
